The Avengers

It took 4 years to make this film. This only show how grand this movie can be. The ensemble of superheroes was not done before and if they succeed in this film, then this would be a great feat for the filmmakers, the writers and the actors as well. To put Iron Man, Thor, The Incredible Hulk and Captain America in a single frame is a sight that would make the inner geek in me scream really loud.

Yes, it took 4 years to make this film. If you pay attention, there are a lot of end credit-scenes in Iron Man 1, 2, Incredible Hulk and  Thor and if you know these films, then you would have stayed at the end of the credits of this film and see that there is an intended sequel for this film and their possible villain.

Loki is still at large which posed a threat not only to their world but ours as well. When the tessaract opened a portal to our world, Loki stepped in and caused havoc. The Avengers Initiative was reinstated by Nick Fury therefore sending The Black Widow to India to recruit Dr. Bruce Banner, while Phil tries to persuade Tony Stark to join the cause. Stark invites Captain America with him, while Thor dropped in unexpectedly during an encounter with Loki.

The first 2/3 of the movie dealt with characterization and ends with a battle royale between our beloved superheroes and Loki's army of destruction. Fans of these superheroes might be screaming inside themselve to give them the best battle there is, and after an hour and a half, we are not disappointed. Seeing these heroes battle side by side is a geek's dream come true. The climax of the film feels like a deja vu when some of the monsters in the battle somehow looked identical with the machines in Transformers 3.

One of the hardest things that a writer has to achieve is how to give equal treatment with characters that are as big as the other, and yes, they have succeeded not to overpower each other even they are all in the same frame. The characters were able to maintain their individuality across the film and managed to become a team in the end.

The film successfully staged the premise of individual differences and meeting in between to achieve their goal. That everyone needs somebody, even superheroes. The Avengers may start out slow paced but the surprises are always at the end. As they say, save the best for last.
